Last week Salesforce started to drip feed us content to get us ready for their Summer ’17 release. Salesforce updates their platform 3 times a year (Spring, Summer, Winter), and whenever this news is officially released, the excitement starts!
Salesforce releases are a fundamental part of why cloud computing is so advantageous, automatic updates that improve performance and functionality without having to undertake a massive project. This post will be your guide to navigate the sometimes murky waters of release content by providing a summary. It will be updated over the next month until the Summer updates drop in early June, enjoy!

The Salesforce Summer ’17 Release Notes have been live since last week. Now you have your chance over the next month to read through all of these free, fantastic new features to see what can benefit your organisation. Their is a real focus on two main areas this release, Einstein & the Lightning Experience. With each release since Lightning was officially released at Dreamforce ’16, Salesforce has been slowly making LE more compatible with existing features, as well as bringing out new features to make users more efficient.
You’ve got two main ways to review the release notes, the first being via the 536 page PDF, probably only recommended for hardcore seasoned release users. Or you have the slightly more recommended option of the interactive webpage, this includes filters and links to specific areas that Salesforce think you might find helpful.
Salesforce Overall: More Tools to Help You Adopt Lightning Experience, Keyboard Shortcuts, and More Ways to Navigate and Manage RecordsSales: Einstein Lead Scoring, Duplicate Detection, and Gmail Integration
The best part about releases is features, features and more features. On average Salesforce build around 200+ features into each release across all their products, which is a huge amount to get your teeth stuck into. One of my favourite ways aside from reading through the release notes to find out which ones could be the most effective, is to find out from the community. Salesforce bloggers around the world get excited at the thought of reviewing some of these features for you and laying out the benefits they will have to your business. As release date gets closer, you will also see Salesforce themselves pump out a lot of content in the form of blogs, videos and live webinars to showcase some of their most impressive features.
